Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti stated that every Indonesian child is a star with tremendous potential, despite facing various limitations.

"Every Indonesian child is essentially a star. Regardless of their physical or economic condition, they possess extraordinary potential," he said after attending the Harmoni Bintang Festival here on Sunday.

In line with this, he said the Ministry is committed to fulfilling its role in facilitating, supporting, and assisting all Indonesian children without exception, so they can grow and develop to their fullest potential.

“Our role at the Ministry is to facilitate, support, and guide them in growing and achieving their dreams in accordance with their talents and abilities,” Minister Mu'ti explained.

He noted that the remarkable abilities of Indonesian children were on full display through the creations showcased at the Harmoni Bintang Festival, including fashion shows and angklung performances by children from diverse backgrounds and conditions.

Participants in the festival included students from special needs schools (SLB), vocational high schools (SMK), courses and training institutions (LKP), as well as non-formal and informal education units.

“There were fashion shows and music performances by SLB Cicendo Bandung, which has earned recognition and performed multiple times in Japan and other countries, along with creative displays from Community Learning Centers (PKBM) and training institutions,” Mu'ti said.

He reminded the public not to assume that education is only accessible through formal schools. Every type of educational institution, he stressed, can help develop the potential of its students.

“We encourage the public to understand that if someone cannot attend a formal school, it is not the end of everything. There are still alternative educational services available through PKBM or training courses — all of which are part of education,” he concluded.
