Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Red Crescent (BSMI) is set to deploy an Emergency Medical Team (EMT) for the fourth time to Gaza, Palestine, to continue Indonesia’s humanitarian mission amid Israel’s ongoing genocidal invasion.

Head of BSMI’s Doctor Team, Professor Dr. Basuki Supartono, noted that the fourth EMT — scheduled to depart this month — would include a pediatrician, a dermatologist, and a surgeon.

“So far, in our humanitarian mission, we have sent 16 doctors. This time, however, the entry of our doctors depends on a permit from the Israeli oppressors. They can reject or reduce the size of the team,” he remarked at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

He then sought prayers from the public so that the upcoming medical team could reach the people of Gaza who are in urgent need.

Meanwhile, Chairman of BSMI’s National Executive Board, Muhammad Djazuli Ambari, emphasized that the deployment of EMT 4 reflects the Red Crescent’s commitment to providing continuous medical support for those suffering due to Israel’s inhumane acts.

He noted that the new EMT will focus on treating wounds and addressing malnutrition, which has worsened in Gaza due to blockades on essential supplies and food.

“We are sending medical teams in batches to show the humanitarian solidarity of the Indonesian people with Gaza’s residents. Treating wounds and malnutrition has become an urgent need there, and that is exactly what we have been trying to provide,” he affirmed.

The three specialist doctors selected for this team are surgeon Muhammad Iqbal El Mubarak, dermatologist and venereologist Annisa Anjani Ramadan, and pediatrician Bambang Surif Djamaluddin.

This team will continue the mission of EMT 3, which served Gaza's people from July 8 to 27 this year.

During its mission, the previous team treated over 200 patients, including women and children. In addition to providing treatment, the team also trained local medics.
