..through his visionary leadership, President Prabowo has successfully strengthened bilateral ties between the two countries,Jakarta (ANTARA) - United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Commander General Bryan Patrick Fenton praised Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for leveraging his leadership to enhance Indonesia–US relations, particularly in the defense sector.
"General Fenton said that through his visionary leadership, President Prabowo has successfully strengthened bilateral ties between the two countries," Indonesian Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated when contacted by ANTARA from Jakarta on Tuesday.
He added that the SOCOM commander also lauded the president’s strong commitment to addressing global security threats and promoting regional peace and stability.
Wijaya, who accompanied President Prabowo during a meeting with Fenton at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday (August 4), recalled first meeting the general in 2020 when Fenton was serving as a staff member in the office of the US Secretary of Defense.
"I first met him when he was serving as a staff member of the US Secretary of Defense back in 2020," Wijaya stated.

During the visit, the SOCOM commander presented a medal of honor to President Prabowo in recognition of his significant contributions to strengthening defense cooperation between Indonesia and the United States. He also gave a souvenir, suggesting it would be a nice addition to the president’s office.
Fenton stated it was an honor to represent approximately 70,000 US servicemen and servicewomen during his visit to Indonesia and meeting with the head of state. He reiterated SOCOM’s appreciation for Indonesia as a key strategic partner in ensuring regional security.
President Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. The US delegation included Chargé d’Affaires ad interim for the US Mission to Indonesia, Peter M. Haymond.
