Jakarta (ANTARA) - Danantara University has the potential to partner in national education development, University of Indonesia's (UI's) rector, Heri Hermansyah, stated here on Tuesday.

"When other institution establishes a university, University of Indonesia sees it as a partner to (pursue) development of our campus, so it becomes better," Hermansyah confirmed.

He emphasized that UI does not view other national universities as rivals. Moreover, UI competes only with global campuses, the rector underlined.

He remarked that currently, UI is the only Indonesian varsity to be ranked among the top 200 global universities.

"University of Indonesia, for the first time ever, is ranked 189th globally. The rank is comparable to Ohio State University," he explained.

Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Danantara Indonesia, Pandu Sjahrir, disclosed plans to establish a corporate university, Danantara Indonesia Academy, targeted for completion within two years.

"Within two years, we aim to establish a global-class university," Sjahrir stated on July 29.

The Danantara Indonesia CIO noted that his administration intends to consolidate all corporate universities of state-owned companies. Danantara Indonesia Academy will offer both general and specialized studies, he revealed.

"If we want Indonesia to be like G7 countries, we must have a global-class university recognized as one of the best in the world," he explained.
