“We want the management -- not just at Garuda Indonesia, but across all BUMN -- to adopt a long-term mindset,” he said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He expressed concern that some BUMN leaders are still operating with short-term goals in mind. Instead, he urged them to develop strategies with long-term sustainability in focus.
“Don’t just think in terms of two, three, or even four to five years. That mindset must change. We need a long-term outlook,” he said.
State-owned wealth management agency Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) has reaffirmed its commitment to building a strong, accountable institution aligned with global best practices.
Danantara Indonesia’s director of global relations and governance, Mohamad Al-Arief, said that Indonesia is entering a crucial phase of aligning its national wealth management with international standards grounded in integrity and transparency.
He added that learnings from sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) around the world have contributed significantly to the institutional design and development of Danantara Indonesia.
These improvements cover decision-making processes, oversight functions, and public transparency, which are cornerstones of modern governance.
As a state asset manager with a direct mandate from the President, Danantara Indonesia is currently pursuing a long-term transformation agenda.
Several key initiatives are underway, including the consolidation of BUMN entities, enhancement of performance evaluation systems, and adjustments to incentive structures and supervisory mechanisms.
These efforts are part of a broader institutional strengthening strategy to improve efficiency and accountability.
Danantara’s role is increasingly vital, not only in managing national assets but also as a tool to promote equitable development across the country.
