Bogor (ANTARA) - Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus launched the development of a nutrition fulfillment unit (SPPG) in Bogor, West Java, to help advance the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.

"We are here today with the intention of fulfilling our moral responsibility to improve people's nutritional intake through Mr. President Prabowo Subianto's Free Nutritious Meals program," he remarked in Cijayanti Village, Bogor District, on Thursday.

According to him, the construction of the SPPG, which will span around three thousand square meters, is projected to conclude within the next 45 days.

He also highlighted that the SPPG would serve as an MBG kitchen to produce and distribute free nutritious meals to nearby schools and would be equipped with facilities that meet the standards set by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

Paulus, who once served as commander of the Indonesian Army’s Special Force Command (Kopassus), emphasized that the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs aims to empower local residents as operators of the free meals kitchen to help reduce unemployment.

Furthermore, he stressed that the ministry had forged partnerships with various stakeholders, including the private sector, to finance the development and operation of the upcoming SPPG. "We are not aiming for profit in this program," he stated.

So far, the government has set up as many as 2,375 SPPGs across the country, with the number expected to continue rising amid the ongoing construction of more kitchens, including the one in Bogor.

The deputy minister expressed hope that residents would support the development and operation of the SPPG to help expand the coverage of the MBG program.

In addition to initiating the kitchen's development, he also used his visit to Cijayanti Village to review the program's implementation at a public elementary school, where he saw pupils savoring MBG packages containing rice, eggs, bean sprouts, carrots, tempe, and bananas.
