The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) has launched the first phase of its Free Health Check (Cek Kesehatan Gratis/CKG) program targeting 250 officials and staff members.
“This Free Health Check is one of the programs initiated by President Prabowo Subianto. As part of the government, we must set an example—starting with ourselves, then encouraging our children, spouses, and families to get checked as well,” Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Arifatul Choiri Fauzi said in Jakarta on Friday.
She emphasized that early detection is crucial not only for reducing healthcare costs and maintaining well-being but also for promoting healthy living through greater awareness.
“Prevention is far better than treatment. By detecting diseases early, we can avoid the high costs of medical care. This is an efficient step to safeguard a family’s financial stability,” she said.
To implement the CKG program, the ministry has partnered with the Jakarta provincial government and mobilized medical professionals from Menteng and Cempaka Putih community health centers (Puskesmas) to provide comprehensive examinations.
During the check, health workers guide participants in filling out a screening form, which covers smoking habits, physical activity levels, and nutritional status, using height and weight measurements to calculate their Body Mass Index (BMI). The free health checks include examinations for blood pressure, blood sugar levels, cholesterol, and uric acid.
Medical staff also conduct screenings for infectious and chronic diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and lung cancer.
In addition, married women are offered cervical swabs for HPV DNA testing as part of early cervical cancer detection efforts, along with clinical breast examinations to identify signs of breast cancer.
