Jakarta (ANTARA) - Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Minister Maruarar Sirait has met Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at City Hall to discuss housing programs, slum improvement, and the People's Business Credit (KUR) program, set for its launch in Jakarta.

Pramono stated that the meeting concluded with an agreement to establish a team tasked with formulating a collaborative program between the Jakarta provincial government and the Ministry of Housing. The team will have two months to develop concrete solutions for the plan.

"He offered various programs that benefit Jakarta, including housing, slum improvement, TOD (Transit-Oriented Development), interest subsidies, subsidized housing, and so on," Anung stated at the Jakarta City Hall on Friday.

During the same event, Minister Sirait outlined several ongoing collaborations, such as improvements to the fishing area in Muara Angke, North Jakarta; relocation of residents living under bridges into apartments; maintaining the Pasar Rumput flats in South Jakarta; and renovating the Athletes' Village.

In addition, there are stimulus and sanitation assistance programs funded by the state budget for Jakarta in 2025.

He also announced plans to promote the subsidized housing program, which offers various incentives, including exemption from Land and Building Acquisition Tax (BPHTB), free Value Added Tax (VAT), and waived Building Construction Approval (PBG) fees.

He lauded the Jakarta provincial government's efficiency in processing PBG permits in just 17 minutes.

"The 17-minute process proves that the public service is very good," he stated.

Furthermore, the ministry and the Jakarta provincial government will implement a People's Business Credit (KUR) program to support housing.

Minister Sirait explained that President Prabowo Subianto has allocated approximately Rp130 trillion for KUR.

He stated that the KUR program is aimed at helping small businesses upgrade through interest subsidies.

"He (Prabowo) has requested that the regional government conduct the outreach in Jakarta. Why? I think there are hundreds of thousands of contractors and developers in Jakarta. We will start the first outreach in Jakarta. The regulations of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, the Minister of Finance, and the Minister of Housing have been prepared," he stated.

He emphasized that promotion and outreach activities would be completed no later than the end of August 2025.

He noted that the housing sector generates a significant multiplier effect for the economy.

"Building one subsidized house requires five direct workers. If we construct 350 thousand houses this year, it would employ 1.65 million people, not including the supporting industries," he elaborated.
