In a statement released here on Saturday, head of the BPOM, Taruna Ikrar, said that the step was taken after intensified supervision of cosmetic production facilities and monitoring of public concerns.
“Recently, cosmetics with compositions not in accordance with what is listed on the packaging have been spreading. Therefore, we have intensified supervision to follow up on this,” he informed.
During the supervision, the BPOM found differences in the type of ingredients, ingredient levels, or both in several products, with most violations recorded in cosmetics produced under contract manufacturing.
According to the BPOM, such discrepancies can pose health risks, such as allergic reactions in users sensitive to undeclared ingredients. In addition, a product’s benefits may not match the claims on the packaging.
The production or distribution of cosmetics that do not comply with the data violates BPOM Regulation No. 21 of 2022 concerning Procedures for Submitting Cosmetic Notifications.
The BPOM has revoked the distribution permits of the 21 products and ordered the business actors to withdraw and destroy the related products.
It has also reminded business actors to comply with the applicable laws and regulations, including the Guidelines for Good Cosmetic Manufacturing Practices (CPKB), and to ensure that each batch is produced according to the formula approved in the notification.
The public has also been advised to check the packaging, label, distribution permit, and expiration date on CekKLIK and to report suspected faulty products through the HALOBPOM Contact Center (1500533) or the local BPOM office.
The 21 cosmetic products whose permits have been revoked are:

• PQR Lip Balm Strawberry
• PQR Lip Balm Cocoa
• DEF Hair Serum
• DEF Hair Tonic
• GHI Eye Cream
• GHI Face Mask Charcoal
• GHI Face Mask Green Tea
• JKL Hand Cream Rose
• JKL Hand Cream Lavender
• MNO Sunblock Lotion
• MNO Whitening Body Lotion
