Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, welcomed President of Peru, Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday for a bilateral meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

The welcoming ceremony began at the Silang Monas area in Central Jakarta, where President Boluarte’s motorcade was greeted by a ceremonial cavalry escort and accompanied to Merdeka Palace.

At the entrance of Merdeka Palace, President Prabowo—dressed in a light blue shirt, black suit jacket, and traditional peci cap—greeted President Boluarte with a handshake upon her arrival.

The two heads of state then proceeded to the palace terrace to observe the honor guard ceremony, followed by a 21-gun salute in recognition of President Boluarte’s official visit as a head of state.

President Boluarte arrived at approximately 10:07 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), and was welcomed by several Indonesian officials, including Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi.

President Boluarte was accompanied by key Peruvian government officials, including Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer Salcedo, Minister of Economy and Finance Raúl Pérez-Reyes Espejo, Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation Ángel Amnero Campo, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Úrsula Desilú León Chempén, Secretary-General of the Presidential Office Enrique Vilchez Vilchez, Ambassador of Peru to Indonesia Luis Tsuboyama, and Director General for Asia and Oceania at Peru’s Foreign Ministry, Fernando Quiros Campos.
The ceremony continued with the national anthems of both countries and a formal introduction of the delegations.
Following the official welcome, Presidents Prabowo and Boluarte moved to the Credentials Room at Merdeka Palace for a photo session and guestbook signing.

Subsequently, President Prabowo invited President Boluarte into his office for a closed-door bilateral meeting.
According to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat, the outcomes of the meeting will be conveyed in a joint press statement after a formal luncheon.

President Prabowo had previously extended the invitation for President Boluarte to visit Indonesia during his official trip to Peru in mid-November 2024.

Both nations have expressed their commitments to finalizing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) within the next six months. President Prabowo expressed his optimism that the agreement could be signed during President Boluarte’s current visit to Indonesia with her delegation.
