According to a livestream by the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat, President Boluarte landed at around 4 p.m. local time. She was greeted with a traditional dance performance and welcomed by Indonesian Trade Minister Budi Santoso and local officials.
Boluarte and Prabowo are scheduled to meet at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday (August 11) to exchange views on several key issues of mutual concern.
The Peruvian president’s visit to Jakarta was first announced by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono on Tuesday (August 6).
Speaking at his ministry’s headquarters in Jakarta, he told the media that President Boluarte had received approval from the Peruvian parliament for her visit, which follows President Prabowo’s official trip to Peru in November last year.
In Lima, the two leaders held a bilateral meeting to explore ways to strengthen cooperation in areas ranging from counter-narcotics efforts to finalizing the Indonesia–Peru Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IP-CEPA).
The IP-CEPA has been finalized and is expected to be signed during the upcoming meeting in Jakarta, according to Minister Santoso on August 7.
During their November 2024 meeting, the two presidents also witnessed the signing of a bilateral agreement on a visa-free arrangement for holders of diplomatic and service passports, signed by Foreign Minister Sugiono and his Peruvian counterpart Elmer Schialer Salcedo.
On that occasion, Prabowo was awarded the Grand Collar of the Order of the Sun of Peru (Orden El Sol del Perú), the country’s highest honor, granted to Peruvian or foreign nationals who have made significant contributions in fields such as politics, arts, and culture.
