With only two months remaining until the event, Taufik emphasized the need for all stakeholders to remain fully focused on both technical preparations and athlete readiness.
“The event is fast approaching, so we must stay focused. We aim to succeed not only as hosts but also in terms of performance. Therefore, our athletes must be thoroughly prepared,” Taufik said, as per information posted on the official website of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora).
He made the remarks following a meeting with Ita Yuliati, chair of the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (FGI), in Jakarta on Monday.
The meeting reviewed Indonesia’s readiness to host the championships, including updates on sponsorship, coordination with the Jakarta provincial government, and promotional strategies.
The 2025 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships will feature 501 athletes from 82 countries and serve as an official qualification event for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Yuliati confirmed that the Indonesia Arena is technically ready to host the championship.
The lighting systems have been readied at the venue, and the installation of rigging structures — lightweight metal frameworks suspended from the ceiling to support additional lighting equipment— is also complete, she expounded.
She explained that rigging plans for the venue were developed in coordination with the management of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) sports complex and technical consultants involved in the original construction of the Indonesia Arena.
While the venue meets international lighting standards, artistic gymnastics competitions require specialized lighting setups with additional rigging.
“All technical calculations have been carefully done. Since the rigging system is static and the load remains within safe limits, it poses no issues. From the standpoint of rigging and lighting, the Indonesia Arena is fully prepared,” Yuliati said.
She added that a new ministerial decree (Kepmen) outlining technical guidelines for events at the Indonesia Arena has been issued, with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) appointed as the technical supervisor for the event.
“With the ministerial decree in place and the PUPR designated as the supervising authority, our planning aligns with all regulations. God willing, everything is on track,” she said.
