Marsudiyanto confirmed the directive after meeting with the head of state at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.
“The president stressed the need to cut, streamline, and fast-track bureaucratic processes, especially those concerning people’s needs, such as village funds, fertilizer distribution, the Red and White Village Cooperatives program, and the Free Nutritious Meals program,” he told the media.
He noted that although Indonesia’s economy maintained a solid growth of 5.12 percent in the second quarter of this year, President Prabowo still views the country’s bureaucracy as cumbersome and inefficient.
The president also underlined the need for stronger measures to root out illegal practices within the bureaucracy, particularly corruption, he stated.
Marsudiyanto further remarked that President Prabowo referred to the recent resignation of Joao Angelo de Sousa Mota from his position as president director of state-owned food company PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara.
“Yes, we talked about everything. The president has pushed for improving our bureaucracy, making it as simple and practical as possible,” he remarked.
Speculations suggested Mota resigned after only six months in office due to frustration with Indonesia’s complex bureaucracy. However, on Monday (August 11), he clarified that his main reason was dissatisfaction with his performance.
“We would like to apologize to citizens, especially farmers, to the state, and to the president who entrusted this duty to us. I hereby declare my resignation with a heartfelt apology,” Mota stated.
He admitted that food-related issues are highly complex and require significant effort to resolve. He also confirmed having submitted his resignation letter to the Investment Management Agency Danantara.
