Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Financial Services Authority's (OJK's) Board of Commissioners' Chairman Mahendra Siregar announced that a new Financial Services Authority Regulation (POJK) has been issued, requiring banks to include MSME financing targets in their business plans.

"For your information, for banking, we have just issued a special OJK regulation related to increasing access to MSME financing," Siregar noted in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Although Siregar did not disclose the new regulation's number and title, he confirmed that it has gone through a consultation process and has received approval from Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), which handles monetary affairs, national development planning, and the financial services sector.

He explained that the purpose of the new POJK is to ensure that MSME financing is no longer treated as optional or supplementary in banking business processes, except for certain banks.

With the issuance of this regulation, he emphasized that MSME financing is now an integral part of a bank's business plan, which must be submitted and approved by supervisors, and its success monitored and measured.

"The financing plan must also be supported by a commitment from each bank to allocate human resources, budget, and dedicated work units to improving financing and access for MSMEs," he remarked.

OJK Chief Executive for Banking Supervision Dian Ediana Rae earlier stated that the POJK on Access to Financing for MSMEs is expected to be issued no later than August.

He also stated that the draft regulation has been shared with ministries and institutions, Bank Indonesia, heads of financial services institutions, and financial services institution associations.

"The RPOJK on MSMEs has been generally completed and is in the finalization stage through harmonization with the Ministry of Law before being promulgated," he stated.

The OJK recorded that national banking credit disbursement reached Rp8.06 quadrillion (US$499.72 billion) in June 2025, marking a 7.77 percent year-on-year (yoy) increase, with credit disbursement to MSMEs growing by 2.18 percent yoy.
