..gather and watch the inaugural night carnival,Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka are scheduled to flag off a night carnival commemorating the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day at the National Monument (Monas), Jakarta, on Sunday.
State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi announced the plan at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to Hadi, the parade, officially called the Independence Carnival of Unity, will begin in the Monas area at 7:30 p.m. local time. It will follow a morning ceremony re-enacting Indonesia’s proclamation of independence and an afternoon flag-lowering ceremony.
Highlighting the event as the first of its kind to be held at night, the minister invited the public to join and enliven the celebrations.
“If you have spare time, you can gather and watch the inaugural night carnival,” he told residents.

Detailing the parade’s route, Hadi said it will start at Monas and pass the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Supreme Court, and Merdeka Palace before continuing along MH Thamrin Street and Sudirman Street.
In addition to the President and Vice President, many ministers are expected to join the parade aboard vehicles representing their respective institutions.
The day’s celebrations will begin with the morning proclamation re-enactment ceremony at Merdeka Palace, chaired by President Prabowo, followed by an afternoon public feast in the palace’s central courtyard.
The national flag hoisted during the morning ceremony will be lowered in the afternoon.
A similar full-day feast will take place in the Monas area, culminating with fireworks and an evening parade featuring representatives from various state institutions on vehicles decorated with information about their programs.
