The president conveyed this in his speech on the Draft State Budget (RAPBN) for the 2026 fiscal year and financial notes at the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives (DPR), marking the opening of the 2025–2026 sitting period at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Friday.
On that occasion, he stated that the government will strengthen energy security for national sovereignty by increasing oil and gas production, maintaining energy prices, and accelerating the transition towards clean energy.
The energy subsidies will also be provided fairly and accurately only for the eligible beneficiaries.
The president underlined that new and renewable energy needs to be boosted by building solar, hydro, geothermal, and bioenergy power plants.
"Indonesia must be the world's pioneer of clean energy. We must reach 100 percent electricity generation from new and renewable energy in 10 years or sooner. I am optimistic it can be achieved," he remarked.
President Prabowo is also seeking to achieve the net zero emissions target by 2060 or sooner so that all Indonesian people can access affordable and sustainable energy.
"State budget support for the strengthening of energy security is realized through energy subsidies, tax incentives, new and renewable energy development, and provision of electricity in villages," he expounded.
The DPR plenary session was attended by 473 DPR members from all factions as well as Red and White Cabinet ministers, including Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
Earlier on the same day, President Prabowo Subianto delivered his State of the Nation Address at the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) and the DPR at the Parliamentary Complex.
