"The President is improving the system, from upstream to downstream, from production to distribution, to ensure available and affordable stock for the public," she remarked when reviewing staple food prices at the Rau Market in Serang, Banten, on Wednesday.
As conveyed in his state address at the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) on August 15, the head of state highlighted the importance of food security by improving the national food system from upstream to downstream.
According to Laura, these improvements include production and distribution to ensure food availability and affordability while safeguarding the people's basic needs.
Prabowo also paid attention to irresponsible parties in the food system, emphasizing that such practices must be addressed to maintain fairness and the stability of national food security.
Laura then drew attention to the implementation of the Klik SPHP application for monitoring rice distribution, although some adaptation stages must be completed in the implementation process in various regions.
She addressed that this process of structuring the food system is not a sign of a rice crisis, but a comprehensive improvement effort for a stronger and more efficient food governance in the future.
She clarified that Indonesia's rice crisis claims are incorrect, emphasizing that a comprehensive restructuring of the national food system is underway, which requires time and a process of collective adaptation.
"Please understand that this is not a rice crisis. Some people are now claiming there is a rice crisis. A comprehensive restructuring is underway, and it requires adaptation," Laura pointed out.
