"In addition, there are also earwax, low fitness levels, and anemia in adolescent girls," said Head of the Tanjungpinang City Health Office (Dinkes), Rustam, in Tanjungpinang on Friday.
Rustam stated that the CKG coverage in Tanjungpinang as of August 22, 2025, had reached 6,662 elementary, junior high, and senior high school students. The total CKG target in Tanjungpinang is 47,813 students across 143 educational institutions.
He explained that the CKG is not intended to establish a diagnosis or determine the nature of a student's illness or medical condition, but rather to detect early disease risk.
Students who are identified as at risk of illness or experiencing illness based on the CKG results will be further assessed at the community health center or referred to a hospital.
"This is an early warning step to address potential health conditions before they become more serious," he said.
Rustam added that interventions based on CKG results also target communities or groups. For example, if a school detects many students with low fitness levels, it can implement programs to increase physical activity, such as regular weekly group exercise.
Similarly, for students with cavities, schools can collaborate with relevant parties to provide counseling and education on proper tooth brushing.
He emphasized that the success of the CKG program relies on the support of parents and guardians, which is crucial to ensuring the health of children.
"Maintaining children’s health at school is essential because children form the foundation for a quality and competitive generation in the future," he said.
The CKG program in Tanjungpinang officially launched on Wednesday, August 6, starting at Maitreya Elementary and Junior High Schools in Bintan Center. The government initiated the program to assess students who are healthy as well as those at risk of illness.
