Jakarta (ANTARA) - Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani said the government’s Free Health Checkup (CKG) Program has contributed to improving public health.

“The Free Health Checkup Program shows the government’s commitment to ensuring that every citizen has the right to a healthy life,” Muzani stated during his speech at the 2025 Annual Session of the MPR at the Parliament Building on Friday.

The MPR Annual Session is a regular national event held ahead of Indonesia’s Independence Day. This year’s session was notable as it marked President Prabowo Subianto’s first attendance as head of state.

The event was attended by national figures, political party leaders, all members of the MPR, DPR, and DPD, cabinet members, former presidents and vice presidents, the diplomatic corps, and representatives of international institutions in Jakarta.

According to Muzani, the benefits of the CKG Program have been widely felt by the public. Through this initiative, the government has fulfilled citizens’ right to access adequate health care.

He noted that the program is well-targeted, reaching all segments of society, including the lower-middle class. “It can prevent disease early and ensure the public receives adequate services,” he said.

The CKG Program is also expected to help prevent illness and improve the overall quality of public health in Indonesia.

As part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of Indonesia’s Independence Day, the country convened the 2025 Annual Session of the MPR together with the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) on Friday morning.

During the session, President Prabowo Subianto was scheduled to deliver his first annual state address, outlining the work and performance of state institutions under his leadership during the first 10 months of his term.

The 2025 Annual Session was held under the theme "United and Sovereign, Prosperous People, and Advanced Indonesia"
