Kuta, Bali (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) Bali Representative Office promotes the widespread use of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) digital payment system throughout Bali through "QRIS Jelajah Indonesia" (QJI) literacy program.

BI Bali Advisor Indra Gunawan Sutarto, Saturday, said that there are 57 teams participating in the program: high school students, university students, and the general public aged 17 to 35 who will promote the practical use of QRIS transactions to the public.

In addition, they are promoting a movement to love, be proud of, and understand the rupiah as a symbol of Indonesian sovereignty.

He is optimistic that the educational program will be optimally absorbed due to the strong level of acceptance among the Balinese community, although further promotion is needed to ensure widespread adoption.

"The Balinese public's acceptance is strong and positive, and hopefully, in the future, various collaborative programs with the Bali Provincial Government will increase digital transactions," he added.

Luh Ayu Aryani, Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development of the Bali Provincial Secretariat, hopes that digital transaction education will boost the economy in Bali.

"Educating and encouraging Balinese people to transform to digital payment systems, one of which is through QRIS, will further boost Bali's economy," she said.

BI Bali targets QRIS users in Bali to reach 1.5 million to 2 million by the end of 2025.

Meanwhile, transactions using QRIS in Bali have recorded positive performance, according to BI Bali data.

During the first semester of 2025, 996,300 business outlets used QRIS, a 16 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Micro businesses dominate QRIS usage, accounting for nearly 56 percent.

Meanwhile, total transaction volume reached 64 million transactions, and the number of users reached 1.1 million, representing a 6 percent increase compared to 2024.

However, QRIS transaction volume is still dominated in southern Bali, with 91.5 percent in Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, and Tabanan.
