Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Hasan Nasbi, when asked about the request for amnesty from Immanuel Ebenezer, stated that President Prabowo Subianto will not defend any of his officials involved in corruption cases.

Nasbi explained that over the past 10 months, President Prabowo has consistently reminded his ministers and deputy ministers in the Red and White Cabinet to never engage in corruption.

“The President has stated that he will not defend any of his officials involved in corruption. So, we will fully hand this over to the law enforcement process,” Nasbi told reporters here on Saturday.

He then urged the public to follow the legal proceedings concerning ex-Deputy Manpower Minister Immanuel Ebenezer regarding his alleged involvement in an extortion on occupational safety and health certificates against several companies.

“In this matter, let's just follow the legal process and allow everything to be clear,” Nasbi stated.

He emphasized that President Prabowo is committed to combating corruption through both words and actions.

“For the past 10 months, the President has constantly reminded his officials to work for the people and to never engage in corruption. This shows how serious the President is,” he said.

On Friday (August 22) evening, President Prabowo dismissed Immanuel Ebenezer from his position as Deputy Minister of Manpower, just hours after he was named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) earlier that day.

“The President has signed a decree to dismiss Immanuel Ebenezer from his position. We now leave the legal process to run. We hope this serves as a lesson for all of us, especially for members of the Red and White Cabinet and all government officials,” State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated.

After being named a suspect, Ebenezer publicly apologized to President Prabowo. He also defended himself, claiming he was not involved in any extortion case. Therefore, he expressed hope of receiving amnesty from the President.
