Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Cooperatives is currently inventorying unused village assets to be utilized to boost the operations of the Merah Putih (Red and White) Cooperatives, according to Deputi Minister Ferry Juliantono.

In a statement delivered in Jakarta on Wednesday, Juliantono emphasized that without the support of physical assets, cooperative business activities cannot run optimally. Assets such as village halls, former SD Inpres school buildings, and facilities previously managed by PT Pos Indonesia, but currently unused, can be optimized.

"So, the number and location of these assets need to be inventoried so they can be used by the village cooperatives, which are expected to begin operating around August to September," Juliantono said.

He added that efforts are being made to ensure these assets can be utilized by the Merah Putih Cooperatives to support their business operations. Moving forward, data related to government-owned assets, both central and regional, is expected to grow in line with the ongoing data collection and inventory processed conducted by various ministries and agencies.

"This is a form of operational support, where each ministry will submits its assets data, which we will then integrate into a microsite," he said.

With a target of 15,000 cooperatives operating by August 2025, Juliantono reiterated that strengthening the physical asset base is a fundamental requirement for accelerating cooperative growth. He expressed hope that institutions and agencies can expedite the completion of detailed asset inventories.

"If we don't maintain the utilize physical assets, village cooperative operations cannot begin. Therefore, institutional strengthening and infrastructure must be ensured," he added.

The Director of Planning, Finance, and Village Government Asset Facilitation at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bahri, stated that many villages and regional governments have not yet reported their assets.

According to Bahri, out of more than 75,266 villages, only about 21 percent, or 16,059 villages, have submitted asset inventory reports. This means that there are still 59,207 villages have yet to report.

Bahri noted that the main obstacle to a comprehensive asset inventory is the lack of clear criteria for distinguishing between land and buildings that are in use and those that are idle.

"To accelerate asset data collection, the Ministry of Home Affairs will issue a circular to regional heads, including village heads, that instructing them to immediately report their idle assets so they can be synchronized to support cooperative operations," Bahri added.
