Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Ministry of Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection (P2MI) have signed a cooperation agreement to enhance consumer protection for Indonesian migrant workers regarding payment systems.

BI Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta stated that remittances—money sent by migrant workers to their families—not only improve their welfare but also strengthen Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves and support the stability of its balance of payments.

To support this, BI and the P2MI Ministry have created the JariPMI.Info website, which offers essential information for migrant workers.

The site includes profiles of destination countries, details on administration and documents, cultural insights, information on safe remittance services, financial education, and consumer protection.

It is also linked to BI's official portal, allowing migrant workers to file complaints about payment systems.

Additionally, BI is educating both current and prospective migrant workers, as well as their placement companies, encouraging them to understand their rights and responsibilities, recognize fraud schemes, protect their personal data, and report any issues through official channels.
