Speaking in Purwokerto, Banyumas District, on Saturday, Taefur urged the public to entrust the investigation of the incident, which claimed lives, to the authorities so it can be handled fairly under the law.
“We should leave it to the authorities to deal with the case. Here in Banyumas, let us stay calm, avoid provocation, and maintain a conducive environment,” he said in response to several protests demanding justice for Indonesia's poor that erupted in a number of Indonesian cities.
Commenting on the possibility of further demonstrations in several regions, including Purwokerto on August 30, Taefur emphasized that if people wish to express their aspirations through rallies, they should do that in an orderly and peaceful manner.

He underlined that maintaining public order is a shared responsibility and urged the community to uphold brotherhood and love for their region by avoiding acts of violence that could spark unrest.
“The most important thing is not to be provoked. Do not act violently, do not create chaos. Do not let people be drawn into actions that only cause harm,” he stressed.
Taefur also invited all parties, particularly the people of Banyumas District, to continue safeguarding order and stability.
He highlighted the vital role of religious leaders, community figures, and all elements of society in easing tensions, ensuring that the situation does not escalate and remains under control.
“With calmness and maturity, any issue can be resolved through legal channels and wise dialogue, without creating anxiety in the community,” he added.
