He made the statement on Saturday (August 30) at the closing of the event, hosted by the Indonesian District Governments Association (Apkasi) in Tangerang, Banten. President Prabowo Subianto officially opened the expo on August 28.
"I see that this exhibition has led to the desired outcomes, as it showcases products from local businesses, aligning with President Prabowo's determination to empower the people," Hasan noted in a statement cited in Jakarta on Sunday.
The minister highlighted that the AOE, held annually since 2005 to spotlight district governments' strengths and achievements, had played a significant role in enhancing the quality and competitiveness of regional commodities and products.
He further underlined the importance of initiatives such as the expo to help rural residents grow more economically self-reliant.
Apkasi Chairman Bursah Zanubi, who also serves as Lahat District Head in South Sumatra, shared a similar view emphasizing the need to intensify trade ties among districts across the country.
For instance, he noted that North Minahasa District in North Sulawesi had expressed readiness to supply Rp6 billion (around US$366 thousand) worth of bags made of coconut and walnut fiber to his district.
"In return, we will send coffee to North Minahasa, as this commodity is our district’s strength. I hope such cooperation will set a precedent for other districts," Zanubi added.
This year's AOE attracted investors, buyers, and the general public. Over three days, it facilitated transactions worth around Rp8 billion (over US$488 thousand) and saw the signing of several business memorandums of understanding.
