"The President is in the country and continues to monitor developments across the nation, especially in the capital, Jakarta," Sjamsoeddin said at the Presidential Palace here on Sunday.
He added that the President has instructed the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Armed Forces (TNI) to remain united, work together, and maintain public security.
The President also instructed Police Chief Listyo S Prabowo and TNI Commander Agus Subiyanto to take firm and measured action against violations of the law.
Criminal acts, including the destruction of public facilities, objects, or private property, must be prosecuted according to the law.
"If any incidents threaten the safety of officials, including looting of their homes, officers must not hesitate to take decisive action against the perpetrators," Sjamsoeddin said.
The Police and TNI are tasked with protecting national security, public order, and the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.
The President also assigned the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to monitor the situation closely and immediately report any developments.
Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian was instructed to coordinate with regional governments and monitor economic developments to meet the needs of the people.
The TNI Commander and Chiefs of Staff were tasked with maintaining national security and preventing unlawful use of natural resources.
In addition, the Police Chief was instructed to continue cooperating with Attorney General ST Burhanuddin in enforcing the law across the country.
"This message is conveyed on the President's instructions, so that all Indonesians are aware and understand it," Sjamsoeddin said.
"The President will always stand with the people, supported by the TNI, Polri, and all community organizations," he added.
The press statement was delivered in the presence of TNI Commander Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief Listyo S Prabowo, BIN Chief Herindra, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Army Chief of Staff Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Muhammad Ali, and Air Force Chief of Staff M Tonny Harjono.
President Prabowo also held a Cabinet Meeting attended by several ministers and state officials at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Sunday afternoon.
