Andi Gani Nena Wea, head of the All-Indonesian Workers Union Confederation (KSPSI), said the DKBN will set up a special task force focused on stopping mass layoffs.
“We’re waiting for the President to announce it. This council will create a layoff prevention task force,” Wea said after the meeting.
Prabowo approved the plan to create the DKBN and the Layoff Task Force (Satgas PHK) during the May Day event in Jakarta on May 1, 2025.
Wea added that six labor representatives will join the council. However, he made it clear they are not seeking official government positions.

Speaking alongside Said Iqbal, president of the Labor Party and the Indonesian Trade Unions Confederation (KSPI), Wea said they want to help through the council but don’t want minister-level titles or salaries.
“They offered us high-ranking positions, but we’re not interested. We just want to serve the country. This council is a forum, not a place for power or money,” Wea said.
Iqbal agreed, saying labor leaders should act as advisors, not as government officials.
He added that President Prabowo is expected to officially announce the full structure of the DKBN within two weeks.
“The president has signed a decree to establish the council. The names of the people who will be part of it are still being finalized,” Iqbal said.
The DKBN is expected to work closely with ministries and help shape labor policies without political influence.
