“Water is the source of life. Without clean water, our brothers and sisters in Gaza face a serious health and survival crisis. Food is also essential, as it provides the energy needed in emergencies,” Baznas Chairman Noor Achmad said in a statement received here on Thursday.
He emphasized that the aid distribution also reflects Indonesia’s concern and solidarity with Palestine.
“Every liter of water and every meal they receive is an expression of love from Indonesians. This is a collective effort to ease their suffering,” Achmad stated.
He further expressed the agency’s commitment to continuing the program so that future batches of aid can reach even more Palestinians. Baznas will also provide regular reports to ensure Indonesians know their donations are received by those truly in need.
On the occasion, Achmad commended Ivan Gunawan for his collaboration, as well as all Indonesians who entrusted their donations to Baznas.
In the same statement, Ivan Gunawan said he was grateful that the first batch of aid had been delivered.
The fashion designer also announced plans to personally distribute the next batch as a show of boundless concern and care.
“Insha Allah, on September 8 I will personally deliver your donations via Egypt. Please pray for my safety and health throughout the journey,” he said.
The water distribution covered five strategic locations: Abu Hasirah Port, Al Sheikh Radwan, Al Rasheed, Palestine Stadium, and Al Moataz Tower. A total of 1,582 people benefited, each receiving an average of 16 liters of water.
Meanwhile, the food packages were distributed to 800 people in Palestine Camp and Al Ikhwa Camp.
