“Based on our investigation and evidence, we have named one suspect with the initials NAM (Nadiem Makarim),” AGO’s Director of Investigations at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Nurcahyo Jungkung Madyo said here on Thursday.
Madyo explained that in 2020, during Makarim’s term, the minister planned to use the Google product for procurement, even though the official procurement period had not yet begun.
Makarim faces charges under Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, along with Article 55 paragraph (1) point 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).
The former minister will be detained for 20 days at the South Jakarta District Attorney’s Salemba Detention Center.

Previously, the AGO had identified four others: Jurist Tan (JT), who served as special staff for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology from 2020 to 2024; Ibrahim Arief (BAM), a former technology consultant at the ministry; Sri Wahyuningsih (SW), the director of elementary schools for the 2020–2021 period who had authority over budget use in her directorate; and Mulyatsyah (MUL), the director for secondary education during the same period.
