"This initiative will help create a healthy and sustainable investment climate to support our economic development goals," said Tirta Nugraha Mursitama, the ministry's Deputy for Investment Cooperation, on Saturday.
According to Mursitama, Indonesia played a key role in two main agendas during the meeting.
First, together with Australia, Indonesia presented progress on Phase IV of the APEC Investment Commitment Handbook Project, which aims to strengthen officials' understanding of international investment agreements and provide strategies to mitigate risks of non-compliance.
Second, the Indonesian delegation contributed to discussions on the WTO's Investment Facilitation for Development Agreement (IFDA), while also promoting the upcoming Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2025, underscoring the nation's commitment to sustainable investment.
Mursitama stressed that Indonesia's participation in APEC IEG2 reflects efforts to boost investment diplomacy across the Asia-Pacific.
"This will enhance the nation’s position in global investment agendas and open broader collaboration in supporting sustainable development," he said.
A key highlight of the forum was a workshop on "Investment Facilitation in the Digital Age," co-organized by APEC, OECD, UNCTAD, and the World Economic Forum (WEF). The session explored global foreign direct investment (FDI) trends in the digital era, cross-border digital investment policies, and private sector contributions to adaptive regulations.
Mursitama added that Indonesia's participation also aligned with the directive of Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani to strengthen the country's investment climate and leadership in regional investment initiatives.
"This role strengthens Indonesia's position as one of the key drivers of the regional investment agenda, opening up broader opportunities for cooperation with Asia-Pacific countries," he said.
