Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Primary and Secondary Education Ministry set up three tents as emergency classrooms for students of the Public Vocational High School (SMKN) Cileungsi 1 in Bogor, West Java, after roofs collapsed on Tuesday (September 9).

"Our ministry has prepared tents for pupils to study while awaiting the reparation process. Despite this emergency situation, we hope that these tents will truly be helpful for learning activities," Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu'ti remarked.

Speaking after inspecting the school's condition on Thursday, he pointed out that reparation for three impaired buildings is expected to conclude before December 15, 2025, with a budget allocation of Rp2 billion (approximately US$121.3 thousand).

Meanwhile, Headmaster of SMKN Cileungsi 1 Meisye Yeti highlighted that the school had decided for all learning activities to be conducted online until Friday (September 12) following the incident.

Starting Monday (September 15), she said the school would adopt a hybrid scheme combining online and offline learning, using the three tents and several classrooms that remain safe and adequate.

She explained that the hybrid scheme is especially necessary for 11th and 12th graders, who require hands-on, practical lessons.

"Learning activities on Thursday and Friday will remain fully online, but starting Monday, students will attend both online and offline classes alternately, because some lessons cannot be done remotely and must take place at school," she added.

The roofs of the vocational school collapsed during class hours on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. local time, injuring 30 students with minor to moderate wounds. Several of them are still receiving treatment at Radjak Hospital in Cileungsi.
