“We all hope that this matter can be resolved swiftly and leave no doubt for the bereaved family,” Sugiono added.
Sugiono also commended Indonesian Ambassador to Peru Ricky Suhendar for quickly assisting Purba’s family following the September 1 shooting until the repatriation of his remains.
Purba, a junior chancery officer, was fatally shot by an unidentified assailant near his residence in Lince, Lima.
Peruvian authorities opened an investigation immediately, conducting an autopsy on September 2.
His coffin arrived in Jakarta on September 9 and was brought to Gatot Subroto Central Army Hospital before burial.
The Foreign Ministry organized Thursday’s vigil to honor Purba before his funeral at Sari Mulya cemetery in South Tangerang, Banten.
Foreign Minister Sugiono, Deputy Ministers Arrmanatha Nasir and Arif Havas Oegroseno, senior ministry officials, and Purba’s colleagues attended the ceremony.
