Jakarta (ANTARA) - Muhammadiyah has launched the Palestine Peacebuilding Lab program to strengthen the capacity of Palestinian youth through skills development, knowledge sharing, and collaborative peace initiatives.

As part of the program, a Muhammadiyah delegation visited the Community Peace Center in Amman, Jordan, on Thursday (September 11).

They were welcomed by the Head of the Jordanian Community Peace Center, Omar Hashim Alkhalaileh.

“We had hoped to hold this activity in Palestine, but visa permits from the Israeli authorities have not been granted,” said Yayah Khibtiyah, Secretary of Muhammadiyah’s Institute for International Cooperation Relations (LHKI), in a statement on Friday.

“Therefore, we carried out this program in Jordan,” she added.

Khibtiyah emphasized that the Palestine Peacebuilding Lab, held in Jordan from September 10–14, aligns with Muhammadiyah’s humanitarian mission.

“The Palestine Peacebuilding Lab is a concrete manifestation of Muhammadiyah’s commitment to assisting the Palestinian people in strengthening their capacity in education, social issues, and peacebuilding,” she said.

“Despite limited access, we continue striving to be present for our brothers and sisters in Palestine through cross-border collaborative work,” she added.

She noted that the meeting in Jordan provides an important foundation for continuing global cooperation and solidarity.

“We believe that peace and resilience can only be achieved if the community is empowered. Muhammadiyah will continue to support peace and sustainable development in Palestine,” she stressed.

During the visit, the delegation also discussed with the Jordanian Community Peace Center how the Jordanian government collaborates with civil society organizations to promote peace, not only locally but also internationally.

Key topics included the importance of raising awareness among younger generations to foster inclusive and peaceful attitudes through moderate Islamic teachings, as well as the need to put into practice Islam’s message as a religion of compassion.
