Jakarta (ANTARA) -
The Ministry of Tourism has advised travelers planning to visit Bali to closely monitor weather updates from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), following widespread flooding across several regions since Tuesday.

“Travelers are urged to prioritize safety and health, carry umbrellas or raincoats when outdoors, and stay informed through weather forecasts and advisories issued by BMKG or local tourism operators,” said Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure Development, Hariyanto, on Friday.

He noted that Bali has experienced intense rainfall in recent days, prompting the need for heightened vigilance among tourists.

Visitors are encouraged to carefully select their destinations and actively seek information about disaster-prone areas. Alternative attractions located in safer zones should be considered to avoid potential natural hazards.

Hariyanto also recommended that tourists prepare rain gear, maintain physical fitness, and bring essential medications, especially as travel activities may demand strong stamina amid extreme weather conditions that could trigger flash floods, landslides, and high waves.

Meanwhile, local communities are urged to take preventive steps, such as trimming large tree branches, avoiding littering, and maintaining environmental cleanliness.

“The Ministry of Tourism calls on all stakeholders to collaborate in mitigation efforts and infrastructure repairs, so Bali’s tourism sector can recover and return to normal as quickly as possible,” Hariyanto added.

According to BMKG, the current hydrometeorological disaster has been driven by prolonged heavy rainfall, intensified by the Rossby equatorial wave, which has persisted for more than 24 hours since September 9.

As of Friday, the Bali Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported 18 confirmed fatalities across the island, with two individuals still missing.

The most severe flooding occurred in Denpasar, with 81 affected locations, followed by 28 in Tabanan, 23 in Jembrana, 15 in Gianyar, 12 in Badung, and four in Karangasem.
