Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri), through its Logistics Staff (Slog), is working to stabilize food prices by launching the Affordable Food Program (GPM) in East Jakarta.

"In line with the Chief of Police’s directive, this activity is a tangible form of Polri’s support for the government’s program as well as proof of our presence for the people," said Polri Assistant for Logistics, Commissioner General Suwondo Nainggolan, in East Jakarta on Wednesday.

Suwondo explained that the initiative, carried out jointly with the East Jakarta Metro Police, is a concrete step to support the government’s efforts in stabilizing food prices and easing the burden on communities.

The event, held at two locations, provided thousands of essential food packages at affordable prices.

A total of 50 tons of SPHP rice (10,000 bags), 5,000 liters of cooking oil (1-liter pouches), and 5,000 kilograms of sugar were made available.

Residents could purchase rice for Rp11,000 per kilogram, cooking oil for Rp20,000 per liter, and sugar for Rp10,000 per kilogram.

To ensure equal distribution, each household was limited to buying a maximum of 10 kilograms of rice along with additional packages of cooking oil and sugar.

Meanwhile, Polri’s Head of Public Information Bureau, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, stated that similar activities were not only held in Jakarta but also simultaneously organized across various police units throughout Indonesia.

"Through this program, Polri wants to ensure that people in different regions can directly benefit from it," Trunoyudo said.

He also urged the public not to be easily provoked and to respond wisely to the spread of false information circulating widely. Polri, he emphasized, will always stand by the people.

Through this initiative, Polri not only strengthens its ties with the community but also reaffirms its role as a frontline institution in supporting national stability, whether in terms of security, people’s purchasing power, or the nation’s social and economic resilience.
