"All victims remain under close medical observation," said Pakenjeng Police Chief, Muslih Hidayat, here on Thursday.
He stated that based on on-field checks and reports, a total of 115 people had shown symptoms of food poisoning as of Wednesday (September 17) evening.
According to statements from several victims, symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, vomiting, and diarrhea began after they ate food distributed during the akikah celebration in Campaka hamlet, Pasirlangu Village, on Monday (September 15).
The case started when food was shared with local residents during the event. Reports of illness began on Tuesday (September 16), with the peak occurring on Wednesday, when dozens of residents sought medical treatment.
Hidayat explained that a total of 82 patients were treated at Sindangratu Local Health Center (Puskesmas), comprising 42 inpatients, 11 under observation, and 29 who were examined and allowed to return home.
Another 33 residents were treated at Bungbulang Health Center, including 29 inpatients and four under observation. All patients were treated without requiring referral to Garut Regional General Hospital (RSUD).
"Most patients experienced moderate dehydration, but none needed to be transferred to the Garut Hospital," Hidayat added.
Police are currently investigating the incident, collecting witness statements, and coordinating with the Garut Health Office to conduct laboratory tests to determine the exact cause of the mass food poisoning.
"The situation is under control while we await lab test results to confirm the source of the food poisoning," Hidayat concluded.
