Deli Serdang (ANTARA) - Under the instruction of President Prabowo Subianto, Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan on Friday distributed 1.5 tons of rice as government food assistance to 150 residents in Sena Village, Deli Serdang District, North Sumatra.

Each beneficiary received 10 kilograms of rice during the distribution held at the office of the Sena Village head.

"This aid was ordered by the president," Hasan remarked.

The minister expressed hope that the food assistance would bring real benefits to the residents in need.

In addition to distributing the rice, Hasan also inspected a cooperative established under the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP) program in Sena Village.

"Based on our observation, the Sena Village cooperative is well prepared and has already started business activities," he said.

He also encouraged local residents to take part in the cooperative by becoming members.

Launched by President Prabowo last July, the KDMP program is intended to stimulate economic growth from villages. Through village cooperatives, rural residents can gain access to various essential goods and services at more affordable prices.
