The Jakarta Provincial Government will implement several national policies, including initiatives in housing and sanitation.
“The project will require nearly 100,000 workers. This is a strategic effort to absorb labor amid ongoing economic pressure,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Monday.
The housing project will be carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and will involve local contractors to accelerate development across various parts of Jakarta.
“We are also working closely with local contractors in Jakarta and encouraging them to take part in this initiative,” he added.
In addition to housing, the Jakarta government is preparing a sanitation program fully supported by the central government. The program aims to improve public access to proper sanitation services.
As of July, the initiative has begun constructing household-scale septic tanks in the Bidara Cina low-cost apartment complex in East Jakarta. The city plans to expand the program to ten densely populated areas in the district.
This project is expected to improve hygiene for 921 families, or about 2,936 people, by eliminating the practice of defecation in drains or rivers.
“This sanitation program is also part of the central government’s initiative, and we are working hand in hand with the relevant ministries,” Pramono noted.
