Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital said President Prabowo’s speech at the 80th United Nations General Assembly demonstrated Indonesia’s status as one of the major countries whose voice is heard on the global stage.

The ministry’s Director General of Public Communication and Media, Fifi Aleyda Yahya, described the occasion as a symbol of national pride, a historic moment, and proof of Indonesia’s diplomatic success.

“President Prabowo’s speech, following those of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and United States President Donald Trump, clearly shows that Indonesia’s leadership is highly respected on the world stage,” Yahya said in a statement on Monday.

She noted that the speech underlined Indonesia’s role as a leader of the Global South and the developing world.

The moment was seen not only as representing the interests of developing countries, but also as reflecting Indonesia’s consistency in advocating justice and inclusivity in global governance.

“Indonesia is present not just for itself, but to promote broader global interests, including world peace, climate change, food security, and a fairer international economic system,” she said.

Yahya emphasized that the opportunity also affirmed Indonesia’s position as part of the solution to global challenges.

“Indonesia does not merely raise issues but also contributes to solving pressing problems facing the world today,” she added.

President Prabowo is scheduled to deliver his address during the General Debate of the 80th UN General Assembly at UN Headquarters in New York on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 9 a.m. local time.

He is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders, including a session with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Officials accompanying President Prabowo include Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.

They also include Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai, Danantara Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate and Energy Hashim Djojohadikusumo, and Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Anindya Bakrie.
