“We condemn all acts of violence against innocent civilians. Therefore, it is today with dignity that we gather to take our historical responsibility,” said Prabowo.
With a heavy heart, Prabowo recalled the ongoing tragedy in Gaza, where thousands of innocent lives have been lost to war, including women and children who have been killed, as famine looms and a humanitarian catastrophe unfolds before the eyes of the world.
Prabowo stated that the conference marked a moment to take a historical responsibility, one that concerns not only the fate of Palestine but also the future of Israel and the very credibility of the United Nations.
The president also reaffirmed that the two-state solution is the only path that leads to peace in the region.
He further stressed that the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza must be the utmost priority.
“We must stop the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, ending the war must be our utmost priority. We must overcome hatred, fear. We must overcome suspicion. We must achieve the peace that is necessary for the human family,” he emphasized.
The president expressed Indonesia’s readiness to take part in the journey toward peace, including by providing peacekeeping forces.
“Peace, peace now, peace immediately. We need peace,” he stated.
A total of 33 delegation leaders representing countries and regional groups such as the European Union and the Arab League spoke at the conference.
