"Indonesia is committed to transforming climate challenges into opportunities for green development and sustainable investment,” Djojohadikusumo said in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Speaking at a high-level panel discussion, he noted that with more than 285 million people living in highly vulnerable areas, Indonesia faces real threats such as sea level rise, extreme rainfall, and forest fires.
"Climate change for Indonesia is not a future threat, but a daily reality, and leadership means having the courage to control it head-on," he said.
Indonesia is targeting net-zero emissions by 2060 or earlier, with a green economy strategy designed to drive growth, create jobs, and cut emissions. The country is carrying out its energy transition gradually, fairly, and measurably, including reducing coal use.
Through the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), Indonesia is mobilizing international financial support to accelerate renewable energy development and strengthen the national electricity grid.

He continued that Indonesia is also leveraging its natural resources as a strength, adding that the government is preparing a 12 million-hectare reforestation program using a multi-species pattern, including fruit trees, to restore biodiversity and wildlife habitat.
Indonesia is also pushing for the establishment of a national carbon exchange to convert natural potential into economic value and open up opportunities for global cooperation.
Other concrete initiatives include a 103-gigawatt electrification program, 75 percent of which will be based on renewable energy, the development of regulations to support a voluntary carbon market, the development of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), and blue carbon solutions, including through seaweed ecosystems.
"Indonesia is ready to lead, to collaborate, and to invest in climate solutions. For us, climate action is not just an obligation, but also a golden opportunity to create national prosperity and make a real contribution to the world," he said.
