Hafidz Muksin, head of the Language Development and Fostering Agency under the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry, praised Central Sulawesi’s efforts to protect Indonesian as a unifying national language.
“As a great nation, language represents our identity. The Indonesian language has played a vital role in uniting our country,” Muksin said in Palu.
The ministry recently issued Ministerial Regulation No. 2 of 2025, which sets guidelines to strengthen supervision of Indonesian language use across public spaces and official documents.

“This regulation reflects a coordinated commitment between the central and regional governments,” he added.
To formalize cooperation, the agency signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Central Sulawesi’s provincial government, local districts, and several universities to safeguard Indonesian language sovereignty and protect regional dialects.
Muksin emphasized that the partnership underscores the provincial government’s support in prioritizing Indonesian language use and preserving local languages.
Syarifuddin, head of the Central Sulawesi Language Center, said his office has also coordinated with government bodies to explore collaboration in language and literature development.
“This collaboration strengthens Indonesian language sovereignty, protects regional languages, and supports the future use of foreign languages,” he said.
