"We cannot ignore the challenges we face, one of which is ensuring consistent quality of instructors as the backbone of courses and training," said Deputy Minister Fajar Riza Ul Haq during the launch of a training program for 1,100 vocational instructors in Jakarta on Monday.
He stressed that without skilled trainers, it is difficult to provide meaningful learning experiences and produce talent that meets industry needs. He cited uneven competencies and certifications, along with limited access to professional development in certain regions, as major issues.
Haq also underlined the importance of improving instructors' welfare and motivation to keep them committed to delivering quality education.
The program aims to upgrade instructors’ skills, with the expectation that better teachers will translate into stronger outcomes for students. By normalizing good practices, the initiative seeks to raise the overall quality of vocational education nationwide.
He expressed hope the program would help cultivate a new generation of highly skilled talent by 2045.
Director General of Vocational Studies Tatang Muttaqin said the training is being carried out across 70 locations. It covers a wide range of skills, from graphic design and digital marketing to hair styling, fashion design, and both conventional and electric vehicle engineering.
Muttaqin emphasized the importance of support from regional governments, industry, partners, and the public to ensure tangible results.
"Through collective effort, we can improve vocational education by strengthening instructor capacity and creating high-quality education for all," he said.
