Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Religious Affairs is currently preparing a madrasah (Islamic school) development roadmap for 2025–2029, which will serve as a guide to realizing quality and excellent madrasahs.

“We may follow the patterns of existing grand designs, such as the 2025–2045 Indonesian Education Roadmap or the RPJPN (Long-Term National Development Plan),” Director General of Islamic Education Amien Suyitno said at the ministry, here on Wednesday.

He highlighted the importance of the document as a guide for madrasah development over the next few years, enabling the process to be carried out continuously with clear and rational targets.

According to him, if necessary, a roadmap for the next 20 years can also be created.

He further outlined several essential elements in preparing the madrasah development roadmap: first, setting targets based on four pillars—access, quality, competitiveness, and relevance; and second, paying attention to current trends.

“The grand design must not overlook strategic national and global issues, and it must refer to the eight National Education Standards (SNP) and the National Education System Law,” Suyitno remarked.

Furthermore, he underscored the need for madrasahs to become agents of change that are inclusive, innovative, and globally competitive.

Nyayu Khodijah, Director of Madrasah Curriculum, Facilities, Institutional Affairs, and Student Affairs at the ministry, stated that the roadmap is designed to ensure madrasah development has a clear and accurate direction, especially in adapting to the changes of the times.

“This grand design must address the challenges posed by scientific and technological developments, as well as the community’s needs, which continue to evolve. The basis must be clear, accurate, and verified data,” she said.

Meanwhile, educational consultant Bahrul Hayat emphasized the importance of creating a transformative vision for madrasahs by 2045, noting that madrasahs have been able to match the quality of non-religious schools.
