He conveyed this message during the Pancasila Sanctity Day ceremony at the Ministry of Agriculture office in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Sudaryono underscored that his ministry is at the forefront of realizing the national goal of food self-sufficiency, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s priority on agriculture and food security as pillars of national development.
He added that global dynamics are no longer only shaped by ideology and economics but increasingly determined by a nation’s ability to secure its survival.
“To survive as a nation, food security is essential. If the people have enough food, the nation will be strong. That is why the President has targeted that this year Indonesia will not import rice, corn, or consumer sugar,” he said.
In commemoration of Pancasila Sanctity Day, Sudaryono called on Agriculture Ministry staff to work hard and continue innovating to ensure the resilience and survival of the nation.
Throughout 2025, strategic agricultural programs have made major strides. According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), rice production is projected to reach 31 million tons by October.
As of August, national rice stocks stood at 4.2 million tons—the highest level since Indonesia’s independence.
Moreover, the agriculture sector recorded the highest growth among all business sectors in the first quarter of 2025, reaching 10.52 percent year-on-year.
