The police’s Narcotics Investigation Director, Senior Commissioner Radiant, said at a press conference in Denpasar on Friday that the couple were identified as NR (31), a Dutch national, and KV (33), a Russian national.
Radiant explained that the case was uncovered based on public information regarding suspicious activity, namely a hydroponic marijuana narcotics laboratory operated by foreign nationals in a rented house in Denpasar.
“The investigation revealed that the suspect built or constructed a hydroponic tent, including electrical and irrigation systems, from seed sowing to seedlings in hydroponic pots, as well as a growing area for the marijuana plants ready for harvest,” he said.

According to him, the crime was highly organized, as each area was equipped with a cooling system, temperature control, watering, fertilization, lighting, and CCTV surveillance.
Currently, only NR has been named a suspect, while his wife is still being questioned as a witness.
NR is charged under Article 111 paragraph (2) of the Narcotics Law, which stipulates the possession, storage, and control of Class I narcotics in the form of plants weighing more than 1 kilogram or five tree trunks.
