Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has held an interfaith prayer gathering ahead of its 80th anniversary celebration, which falls on Sunday, October 5.

The event took place at the National Monument (Monas) Square in Jakarta on Saturday, led by religious leaders from six official religions.

They included Ustadz Adi Hidayat and Ustadz Yusuf Aman (Islam), Father Yos Bintoro PR (Catholic), Rev. Arlyanus Larosa (Protestant), Pinandita Astono Chandra Dana (Hindu), KRT Asun Gotama (Buddhist), and Js Ruysya Supit (Confucianism).

Each leader offered prayers for the smooth anniversary celebration and for the continued strength and protection of TNI personnel.

Ustadz Hidayat also delivered a tausiyyah (sermon) on the meaning of duty and struggle for TNI soldiers.

In addition to the prayers, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto said the force distributed donations to families of national heroes, Banser members, Muhammadiyah Youth Command (KOKAM), and interfaith youth participants.

"We also gave support to orphans," he added.

The event concluded with a national parade, flagged off by the TNI Commander, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Deputy Defense Minister Donny Ermawan, and senior TNI officials.

"This parade was carried out together by the TNI and the people," he said.

The interfaith prayer drew 7,800 participants, including TNI personnel, civil servants, orphans, Banser members, and youth from various religious communities.

High-ranking officials also attended, including Deputy Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Tonny Harjono, and Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali.
