Of the 36 million screenings, the most common health issues identified were oral and dental problems, high blood pressure, and high blood sugar, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said at Soedirman National Defense Hospital in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Sadikin emphasized the importance of participating in the program, noting that it is part of the government’s efforts to ensure public health and prevent diseases from worsening.
He warned that catastrophic illnesses such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases do not appear suddenly. Symptoms often develop five years before the illness becomes severe, he added.
“The easiest examples are high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and cholesterol. Indonesians usually ignore these until they suffer a stroke or heart disease,” he pointed out.
Sadikin explained that CKG aims to shift people’s health mindset from a curative to a preventive approach. He also reminded journalists to participate in the screenings.
“To reporters, don’t forget to take part in the free health checkup. This is an annual gift from President Prabowo Subianto,” he added.
On the same occasion, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin confirmed that journalists are eligible for free medical treatment at Soedirman National Defense Hospital starting Sunday, October 5, which coincides with the 80th anniversary of the National Defense Forces (TNI).
Sjamsoeddin added that the free treatment also covers healthcare services not included under the National Health Insurance (BPJS Kesehatan).
