Sadikin said here on Tuesday that the Defense Ministry aims to elevate RSPPN so it can become a globally reputable hospital. Thus, the Health Ministry makes use of the cooperation scheme to improve the hospital's healthcare personnel capabilities.
"Doctors from this hospital can learn abroad in the best global hospitals. On the other hand, the best doctors all over the world, including their best nurses, can come here to teach at this hospital," he elaborated.
He confirmed that this program will kick off soon. The program is extended to all doctors and is not limited to just doctors in the National Defense Force (TNI). The minister expected that this initiative can boost healthcare personnel skills.
Moreover, he and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin have agreed to establish RSPPN as a teaching hospital, in a bid to fulfill the national demand for seven essential specialists.
The seven essential medical specializations include pediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, anesthesiology, radiology, and clinical pathology.
In its initial phase, hospital-based education at Soedirman Hospital will focus on fulfilling the demands of seven essential fields for TNI-owned hospitals, he added.
Should the Defense Ministry allow, the Health Ministry will expand the program so non-military doctors can also join to learn under the program.
On the same occasion, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said that Soedirman Hospital is a grade A hospital with extensive facilities, such as a 28-story building, 1,000 beds, and some 100 ICUs.
He opined that high-quality human resources and pharmaceutical products are necessary to complement the good facilities. Hence, his administration collaborates with the Health Ministry and National Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) to pursue the goal.
"We are at the implementation stage, and starting next year, maybe we will see gradual developments," Sjamsoeddin confirmed.
