He emphasized that the Jakarta Provincial Government will not remain silent in the face of acts of terror that disturb public safety and will firmly oppose such threats.
“If there is any form of terror in North Jakarta, we firmly call for those responsible to be dealt with. We strongly stand against such actions,” Anung said here on Friday.
He stressed that ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all Jakarta residents is a top priority. He also underlined the importance of preserving unity and diversity within the city.
The governor acknowledged that he had just received a report about the incident but assured the public that his office is coordinating with security forces for further investigation.
“I always want Jakarta residents to live in peace and harmony. Unity and diversity are the most essential things,” he said.
The threat occurred on Tuesday (October 7), when NJIS received a text message from a foreign number with Nigeria’s country code (+234), claiming that a bomb had been planted at the school and demanding a US$30,000 ransom in Bitcoin.
The school immediately contacted the authorities. The Kelapa Gading Police, along with the Police’s Gegana bomb disposal unit, deployed personnel to sweep the school campus on Wednesday morning (October 8).
Kelapa Gading Police Chief Commissioner Seto Handoko said 21 Gegana personnel were deployed to inspect all areas of the school, including classrooms, laboratories, and children’s play areas.
“The search was conducted to ensure the safety of the school environment. No suspicious objects or explosives were found,” he said.
Police are continuing to trace the digital footprint of the individual who sent the threat.
